What is The Savory Butcher?
The Savory Butcher is a community based meat co-op, meaning we can get huge discounts on great quality meats with the power of group buying in bulk. Specifically, with our community coming together, we can get comparable “top shelf” quality meat for 30-50% less than the grocery store because we can bypass the grocery store and go directly to the farm.
hey are a “wholesale food company” which means that they can pass along the wholesale pricing direct to YOU! They are passionate about helping families find the best for less when it comes to meats.
Right now, they are offering pickups in the Pacific Northwest with plans to expand quickly across the US. (More on that, and how it get it in your area below!)

Is this the same as Zaycon Fresh?
No!!! Savory Butcher is not Zaycon Fresh. In fact, it’s a BETTER version of it! The bulk buying power concept is the same, but the logistics of Savory Butcher are better for YOU, the customer!
- PAY AT PICKUP – you pay for your order a week or two prior to pickup, not MONTHS before. (There is a small deposit required to hold your order.)
- HIGH QUALITY MEAT – SB is going back to the original source of the high quality meats of the early years of Zaycon (if you were there in the beginning of ZF, you know what I mean!)
- TRIMMED CHICKEN – yes, the chicken in your 40 lb. case will already be trimmed. HIGH FIVES ALL AROUND!
- GRASS ROOTS – this is a small co-op, run by two people who know the business and landscape well…with no plans for investors. (Investors ended up being the downfall of ZF!)
- ORGANIC – they will be bringing affordable, organic meats to you soon!
- SAMPLER BOXES – NEW! They are now offering “sampler boxes” with a variety of meats in bulk, vs. all the same meat. i.e. Savory Sampler – 1o# chicken, 10# ground beef & 6# bacon!
See – way way way way better! *more high fives*
Who is Behind Savory Butcher?
There is still so much negative stuff floating around the internet about Zaycon Fresh (ZF). The live video I did right when they closed is one of our top viewed videos…and we received hundreds of comments, questions and notes when that happened this past summer.
And TBH, I was a bit skeptical when I first heard about Savory Butcher…and I asked my good friend Cassie (also the co-founder) a ZILLION questions…and even more when we had a chance to chat in Orlando this past September!
So here’s what you need to know about the two co-founders (both of whom I’ve worked with for years!)
Cassie Michael and Erle Adams….
Cassie and Erle knew each other because of ZF, actually. Cassie is a fellow frugal blogger who talks about saving money ideas and talking about ZF on her blog became a popular topic.
Erle worked for ZF from October 2016 to December of 2017 and his job was to connect with bloggers and provide a blogger program on behalf of ZF, as ZF knew reaching bloggers was a good marketing strategy. Erle was the employee responsible for this department (and how I know him well!)
Since ZF was a very popular topic on Cassie’s blog, Cassie and Erle talked frequently so Cassie could provide the best and most accurate information to her readers about ZF. Erle left in 2017, 7 months before ZF closed. Erle was an employee of ZF, but his time at ZF did provide insight into how to create something similar in The Savory Butcher. Cassie was a customer of ZF for 8 years and became very familiar with the product and service from the customer side.
Together, Erle and Cassie could provide a powerhouse of experience and knew exactly what they wanted to do differently to make for a better company and experience.
And I couldn’t be more thrilled for them – for taking this on with such grace and for working so hard to get it into your neighborhood!
Which leads me to….
How Do I Get a Delivery Near Me?
I am a Savory Butcher community leader, which means I am the advocate for our area to work towards having The Savory Butcher Meat Co-op to bring the best of farm fresh meats, directly from the farm to our community for a pickup in our local area.
But to do this we need to be able to fill a truck to get a truck to stop and deliver!
To get a truck to your area, you need at least 40 people show interest in ordering in one specific neighborhood/zip code. Once we have 40 people per zip code, and 5 neighboring communities that have met the same goal, we can fill a truck and send it to the area to bring us all of this high quality meat!
I am specifically working on the San Antonio, TX, area!
Please fill out the form below, which is like a “petition” and your way of saying you would support the co-op and participate in ordering when it comes to our area.
I know this co-op is something that will grow and become popular, it’s just a matter of getting the word out and getting people to commit to ordering when the truck comes. And as a co-op, there needs to be a number of people in one small area committed to ordering to bring the prices down low, and meet the required number of orders to get the truck to deliver.
I’m so excited to be a part of growing this community of like-minded meat buyers!
And that’s what I know about the new Savory Butcher!
One last question you might have…
What Do I Do with all this Meat from Savory Butcher?
Make freezer meals!!!!!!
You will THANK YOURSELF, if you set up all of this chicken you received as meals vs. just throwing it into the freezer without any meal prep.
With the MyFreezEasy membership, you can pick from all of the different chicken meals that we have available – set up your meal plan with your Savory Butcher order in mind, print out the shopping lists. Then, the day before your Savory Butcher order pickup, I would go shopping for the other ingredients you need to make all these chicken meals for your freezer. MyFreezEasy has done all of the work for you!
