Thaw and bake! The easiest and best kind of freezer meal! These Salisbury Steaks are perfect with a side of mashed potatoes and veggies. Enjoy!

Ingredients for Single Meal

  • 1 - lb(s) ground beef
  • 1 - Tbsp minced onion
  • 1 - tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 - cup(s) Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 - egg(s)
  • 2 - Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 - small white onion(s)**
  • 8 - oz. sliced white mushrooms**
  • 1 - cup(s) beef broth**
  • 1 - Tbsp Worcestershire sauce**
  • 2 - Tbsp all purpose flour**
  • Side: - mashed potatoes**
  • Side: - veggies**
  • 1 - gallon-size freezer baggie(s)

Cooking Directions for Single Meal

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Lightly spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Add the ground beef, minced onion, garlic powder, breadcrumbs and egg into a mixing bowl. Combine together and form into 4 patties.
  3. Place the patties into the baking dish and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Slice the onions into half moons.
  5. In a skillet, saute the onion slices and sliced mushrooms for 3 minutes or until onions become translucent. Stir in the beef broth and worcestershire sauce and bring to bubbling. Whisk in the flour and let simmer for 3 minutes or until sauce begins to thicken.
  6. Pour the onion-mushroom sauce directly over the patties in the baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through.
  7. Cook the mashed potatoes, or other side dish.
  8. Warm the veggies.
  9. Serve Baked Salisbury Steak with mashed potatoes and veggies.

Freezeasy Meal Prep Directions

  1. Slice 2 small onions into half moons.
  2. In a skillet, saute the onion slices and 16 oz. sliced mushrooms for 3 minutes or until onions become translucent. Stir in 2 cups beef broth and 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce and bring to bubbling. Whisk in 4 Tbsp flour and let simmer for 3 minutes or until sauce begins to thicken.
  3. Add 2 lbs. ground beef, 2 Tbsp minced onion, 2 tsp garlic powder, 1 cup breadcrumbs and 2 eggs into a mixing bowl. Combine together and form into 8 patties.

To each disposable tray, add the following ingredients:

  • Place half of the salisbury steak patties into each tray
  • Pour half of the prepared mushroom-onion sauce over the patties.

Cover with foil or lid, add label and freeze.

Freeze & Thaw Instructions

Put baggie in the freezer and freeze up to 6 months in fridge freezer or 12 months in a deep freezer. Thaw completely in the fridge overnight, before transferring to the skillet to cook and then make the mushroom-onion sauce as directed in the recipe above.
