This chili, cooked in the Instant Pot, makes for a comforting weeknight dinner!

Ingredients for Single Meal

  • 1 - lb(s) ground beef
  • 1 - Tbsp minced onion
  • 1 - tsp garlic powder
  • 2 - 15 oz. can(s) black beans
  • 2 - 15 oz. can(s) tomato sauce
  • 2 - Tbsp chili powder
  • - Salt and pepper
  • 1 - cup(s) hot water**
  • Garnish: - shredded cheddar cheese**
  • Garnish: - sour cream**
  • Side: - veggies**
  • 1 - gallon-size freezer baggie(s)

Cooking Directions for Single Meal

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet with the minced onion and garlic powder. Drain and add the browned ground beef to the pressure cooker insert.
  2. Stir in the black beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt and pepper with the hot water into the electric pressure cooker insert.
  3. Steam valve: Sealing.
  4. Cook on: Manual/High for 15 minutes.
  5. Release: Natural or Quick.
  6. Serve Instant Pot Beef & Black Bean Chili with optional garnishes and veggies.

Freezeasy Meal Prep Directions

  1. Brown 2 lbs. of ground beef with the 2 Tbsp minced onion and 2 tsp garlic powder.
  2. Open, drain and rinse 4 cans of black beans.
  3. Open 4 cans of tomato sauce.

To each gallon-size plastic freezer baggie in a round bowl/dish, add the following ingredients:

  • Browned and cooled ground beef, half into each bag
  • 2 – 15 oz. cans black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 – 15 oz. cans tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Remove as much air as possible and seal. Add label and freeze.

Freeze & Thaw Instructions

Put baggie in the freezer and freeze up to 6 months in fridge freezer or 12 months in a deep freezer. Thaw in the fridge overnight, or a warm bowl of water for about 20 minutes, before transferring to pressure cooker insert with hot water and pressure cooking.

Dairy-Free Modifications
