The slow cooker does a phenomenal job of softening the meat, and adding flavor too. The homemade pineapple based sauce is so scrumptious, and everyone is going to be wanting seconds. Reheats well too - if there is any leftover!
Ingredients for Single Meal
- 2 - lb(s) pork shoulder roast
- - Salt and pepper
- 2 - cup(s) pineapple juice
- 1/4 - cup(s) soy sauce
- 1/2 - cup(s) ketchup
- 3 - Tbsp cider vinegar
- 1/2 - cup(s) brown sugar
- 1 - tsp garlic powder
- 1 - tsp ground ginger
- 1 - tsp paprika
- 4 - hoagie rolls**
- Side: - fruit**

Cooking Directions for Single Meal
- Place the pork roast into the base of the slow cooker and season with salt and pepper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice, soy sauce, ketchup, cider vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, ground ginger and paprika. Pour over pork roast in the slow cooker.
- Set the slow cooker on low and cook for 8 hours. Once finished cooking, shred the pork with 2 forks and mix into the sauce. Strain before adding the shredded pork to the hoagie buns.
- Prepare fruit.

- Whisk together 4 cups pineapple juice, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1 cup ketchup, 6 Tbsp cider vinegar, 1 cup brown sugar, 2 tsp garlic powder, 2 tsp ground ginger, and 2 tsp paprika.
To each gallon-size plastic freezer baggie, add the following ingredients:
- 2 lb. pork roast
- Salt and pepper
- Half of the prepared pineapple-soy sauce
Remove as much air as you can and seal. Freeze up to 6 months in your fridge freezer or 12 months in a deep freezer.
Freeze & Thaw Instructions
Put baggie in the freezer and freeze up to 6 months in fridge freezer or 12 months in a deep freezer. Thaw in the fridge overnight, or a warm bowl of water for about 20 minutes, before transferring to the slow cooker and cooking on low for 8 hours.
